Yellow eye in flash picture
Here is a flash picture of Cory rock climbing, at an indoor gym. Notice
how his left eye has a yellow reflection.
Here is a flash picture of Cory on the same climb. This shot
was taken only thirty seconds later, but now both eyes reflect red since he
is looking away from the camera. The light from the flash is not
bouncing off the affected part of the left eye.
Pictures of the back part of the eye (fundus)
The deposits in Cory's left eye, caused by Coats' Disease, cover a
wide area. A picture of his unaffected right eye is shown for comparison.
These pictures were taken before surgery.

What our son sees
The macular degeneration simulator available at Pharmacia Corporation gives a good approximation of what a Coats' patient sees. The black dot in the simulator is actually red and orange, according to our son.
This simulator uses the free Macromedia Flash Player. If you do not see a control panel at the Pharmacia site, then Flash Player is missing and must be installed.
